FARNBOROUGH: Global Hawk gripes ‘exaggerated’
G2 Solutions @ July 20, 2010 # No Comment Yet
It is hard to disagree with Northrop Grumman on this issue:
The US Air Force’s recent complaints that the RQ-4 Global Hawk is expensive and unreliable were “exaggerated”,” say Northrop Grumman executives at the show.
The real problems with the programme, according to Ed Walby, director of business development for the high-altitude unmanned air [...]

Northrop Not Expected To Walk Away From KC-X
G2 Solutions @ December 9, 2009 # No Comment Yet
Well. Let’s hope so, competition is absolutely essential.
Avweek reports:
The decision by Northrop Grumman/EADS North America not to submit a bid for the U.S. Air Force’s KC-135 replacement competition is largely seen as continued posturing by the team, rather than an end to its ambitions to win back the $35-billion deal to rebuild aerial refuelers.

KC-X Update: Situation Normal…

As we somewhat expected (although the initial read was positive) Northrop Grumman is not entirely pleased with the draft RFP issued in September.
Had this been the first round of the competition, USAF could walk away and thank NOC for its time and effort on the matter. Now we wonder, can NOC win (again) the KC-X [...]

As we said during one of the IAF podcast about Rafale: “We would probably recommend getting out altogether of that market”. Unless the Indian acquisition process can be improved, we are still reserved as to the actual profitability of the initial contract.

Ron Sugar provides his views post tanker fiasco to Reuters. This is entirely correct, what tanker fiasco part 2 has done is set catastrophic new standards for DoD procurements and ways to derail them. Corrective action is needed now, so that we do not see a repeat in other programs in the near future.
