A400M facing huge bill

Approximately $10 Billion according to French newspaper Liberation this morning. France alone would have to assume $3.5 Billion of that amount and is categorically opposed to a program cancellation. Liberation also states that such a cancellation would cost in the area of $7 Billion. Simply too big, and much needed, to fail.

First flight is scheduled for 2010 and selected deliveries could take place from 2012. We think he has a point though, USAF needs both aircraft (or equivalent); the problem is that it can only afford one.
